Windows Server 2012 Datacenter helps in maximising operations and performance. It is particularly fit for bigger organisations that invested a lot in virtualisation. It requires license both for server and client access. Client Access Licenses or CALs is important for each device or user who accesses the servers. Server license comprises installation of the server.

Windows Server 2012 Datacenter is no different from Windows 2012 Standard features with the exception of the license requirement for guest operation system via the virtual machines. Datacenter allows the installation of an unlimited quantity of virtual instances of Windows Server 2012 in virtual machines on the chief server. Windows Server 2012 Datacenter contains a couple of processors or CPUs. Because it gains license per processor, you will need to secure another license(s) if you have more than two processors.

Other features are:

• Comprise Remote Desktop Services and Active Directory Rights Management but will request for extra CALs in case you decide on using them
• Protect the access and sync of work files by mobile workers to the company server
